Best Easy Snacks For A Successful Game Night

Anyone that’s ever been up until 3am playing games like Black Spot Cards (yes shameless plug) with friends knows that you need some good snacks to keep you going. But what kind of food is sufficient for a successful game night?!

Should it be something simple like a bowl of pretzels? Or maybe some healthy snacks like kale chips to keep everyone’s cholesterol down??? We’re gonna stop you right there bucko!! It’s game night! Not counting carbs night!

Game night snacks need to be simple enough that no one’s stuck in the kitchen for half the night, but substantial enough to keep everyone going. Not to mention needing to keep any grease on your hands to a minimum so you can keep playing without having to worry about everything smelling like chips once you’re done.

We’re also aiming for bonus points here by making something that’s not just something from the frozen section of the store. Plus, getting your friends to believe you can cook will do nothing but help your status in the group.

So here are some options to help you out. Feel free to get a bit creative with them to fit your taste.

  1. Hawaiian Roll Ham and Swiss Cheese sliders are here for two reasons. First, Hawaiian rolls are the superior form of bread rolls. Second, ham and cheese sandwiches are both simple and delicious. While the buns may be a tad buttery and delicious by the time they’re ready to eat, they are sliders, so they can easily be enjoyed with only 2-3 fingers for cleanliness sake. The recipe can be found here.
  2. Pigs in a Blanket have long been a nice party food to have, and we couldn’t agree more. They’re easy to make even if you’re not much of a cook, and they can easily be eaten with a toothpick or a fork. And if you think we may be off the mark in recommending this here because hot dogs might be bad for you or something, we would remind you that on average every American already eats 70 hot dogs per year. It’s as American as baseball or completely preventable diabetes. The recipe can be found here.
  3. A nice Strawberry Banana Smoothie is a great change of pace if you do manage to get a bit too much grease in your system while playing your game of choice; because for some reason you in your infinite wisdom already disregarded our previous advice about not eating a bunch of greasy stuff. It only needs 4 ingredients, and can easily be altered for texture and taste. The recipe can be found here. (Tip: use the “Jump to Recipe” button at the top of the page)
  4. Microwave Mug Cakes are a very simple solution to the problem of having absolutely no clue how to bake. Plus it can work as a kind of group bonding activity to see who can put their mug of chocolate goodness together faster. The recipe can be found here.
  5. Zucchini Pizza Bites may sound like some kind of trick to get you to eat something healthy, but they’re also a great way to have a fuckload of tiny pizzas that can easily be eaten with toothpicks or forks. It’s cooked zucchini too, so if you’re not into vegetables the pizza ingredients will definitely be the more prominent taste. Also, the recipe calls for an oven, but that’s just for melting cheese so a microwave is a replacement option too. The recipe can be found here.
  6. Mini Cubano Sandwich Skewers may sound fancy at first, but it’s actually just ham, cheese, and pickles. This one is probably the easiest to make out of the bunch and can even be done by the slow kid. The recipe can be found here. (Tip: use the “Jump to Recipe” button at the top of the page)
  7. Here can be found our favorite secret recipe of the group. Don’t go spreading this one around too much either. Some treats are more special when they’re only shared among friends.
